Where has the week gone? Last weekend I spent in Miami hanging with some great friends and all I can say is… When will I ever learn? I am the type of guy who is lucky not to spontaneously combust when I go to the beach.. I swear I pretty much bathed in sunblock.. Or at least I thought I did, but my Rorscharch Test sunburn will say differently. I have quite the designs going on.. I make jokes, but it truly is not a funny thing.. The sun is good for you but don’t overdue it.
Also what is it about Miami that the only thing I really hate about it is it reminds me of LA? I dig the scenery and the vibe of it, but it’s the East Coast version of Los Angeles yet it doesn’t have all the attitude that LA does.
Now we roll into this holiday weekend and remember it isn’t about having a day off or a three day weekend. It is about remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. If it wasn’t for them we would not have the freedoms we do today. Brave men and women who have more guts than I will ever have. I thank them all.
I think everyone should read this article from History.com about the history of Memorial Day. It is a good read and well worth the reminder.
Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
