I have talked about this website before, but if you haven’t signed up to Qello.com you are missing out. As they say.. It’s music to your eyes.. (Read more about them here). I sat down the other night looking for another good music documentary to watch and I stumbled on Springsteen and I.
This documentary was unlike any I have ever seen… Here is why:
Springsteen & I’ is a unique feature music documentary celebrating a rock ‘n’ roll icon: Bruce Springsteen. Working with the filmmakers, Springsteen’s fans have helped create a film that reflects on their personal insights and experiences to explore what this timeless artist means to them. Their stories are at times touching, at times humorous, at times extraordinary and they all come from the heart. Combined with previously unseen archive footage of performances throughout Springsteen’s career, this is a film by the fans and for the fans created with the full support of Bruce Springsteen.
It is pretty wild to watch fans discuss how he had such an influence on their life. As I watched it I kept thinking is there any band I listen to that has had an influence on me like Bruce Springsteen did for these fans.. It is not a tell all doc. In fact it there is not one ounce of discussing Bruce’s life. It is a movie discussing Bruce and his influence on everyone else’s life told by those who are just like you and me.
This movie completely changed my mind on “The Boss”. I have always wanted to see him live, but never really made it a priority. I gotta tell you.. If he ever tours again any where close I will be getting myself and a friend a ticket.
Side note.. I do not think there are many bands who could pull off a documentary movie like this. Sure there are bands that everyone listens to and thinks some of these things, but I there is something about Bruce Springsteen’s music that hits people differently.
