Kid Rock Live

I went and checked out Kid Rock the other night at the Mid Florida Amphitheater and as expected he was awesome. Brantley Gilbert, not so much.

It’s been a long time since I have seen Kid Rock live and it was worth the wait. The guy is a great performer. I think the last time I saw him live was in Hollywood in prob 2003 or 04. I still think back to the time I saw him in 97 or 98 in Roanoke, VA and we did a free show with him and there was probably 10 people there including the bar staff. It was only a year or so later the dude was selling out arenas and he has never looked back.

He broke out the old stuff and a nice mix from his new album. I think what stood out to me as well was there was no talk of politics. We all know he is a Trump supporter and not one mention of Trump or any political agenda at all. It was a nice change. I don’t care what your political beliefs are I am going to see a show to see a show and not listen to your bullshit on politics whether you have the same beliefs as me or not. Go out and do your job. Put on a kick ass show and leave your politics behind.

The show opener was Brantley Gilbert. Admittedly I am not a fan of country music but man this dude was boring. I have never seen an artist have an entire stage setup and use only 4 feet of it. His sound was not great. We could barely hear him just talking on the mike between songs, let alone make out any lyrics. What I did hear in his voice sounded like Larry the Cable Guy. I honestly kept waiting to hear Git R Done! I feel like he tries too hard. The “brass knuckle” imagery on his acoustic guitar and even the brass knuckle holder on his microphone. It was just odd.

I can’t even begin to tell you how awesome the people watching was. I am sure you can imagine. As we stood drinking beers between songs a group of people walked by and I overheard the dude say in a funny southern accent, “One thing about this show is… It’s all about ass and titties.” Enough said.
