Reunion and Farewell Tours

There has been a lot of reunion and farewell tours that have taken place over the years and I am sure they won’t end anytime soon, but please.. STOP.

I want to address Motley Crue and their reunion announcement a few weeks ago. First I will say I like Motley. I have their albums and there is no denying they were a great band. I stress WERE. These guys are not great any longer. Even the new music they write is terrible. What happened to the couple new songs they did for their awful movie The Dirt? They stayed in the shitter where they should have stayed. No one played them and no one cared.

Why does anyone want to see this band reunite for another tour since it’s only been what? 3 years? 4 years? Not even long enough for anyone to miss them. ? Let us also not forget Vince Neil is a fat bastard who can’t even sing anymore. I mean the guy is lucky to get out 3 words before he is out of breath. It’s just fucking ridiculous. Why do I want to pay for a ticket to hear the fans sing a majority of their songs? Well the answer is I fucking don’t. I also do not want to see Mick Mars look like he is pain for the 90 minute set. While he may not be in pain and it’s his choice to do this tour, but damn, just let it go. I mean do they wheel the guy out on a cart set him in a place and he just plays? I love Mick and he is the only guy in the band I have liked since they started.

Their press release stated about how fans have been wanting them to reunite since the movie came out.. Really? Where are these people? Why did fans spend money to see them 3 or 4 years ago thinking this was it? It was over.. No more. Finished. Done. and now a short time later fans have to find even more money to see them again.. I also didn’t know someone could just blow up their contract and it meant nothing. I guess I should find my Sallie Mae student loan contracts and blow them up so I don’t have to pay them any longer.

Enough about the Crue.. How about KISS? They are on their second or third farewell tour. How quickly everyone forgets they announced their farewell tour in 1996 and here it is 2019 and they are on what they are telling us is their final tour and it will end in 2021. One can only hope.

I also should throw in Ozzy. I mean Jesus. Ozzy did a No More Tours tour in 91 or 92. I might have been the only guy actually happy when Black Sabbath finally played their last show. Ozzy is 70 and let’s face it he is not in the shape of say someone like Mick Jagger and he is 76. Ozzy has not put on a good show since probably 1992. Squirt water on the crowd and leap frog. Great. The guy will probably be lucky to even hold the hose at this point.

The Scorpions announced a Farewell tour in 2016 or 2017 and these guys are still touring as well. I love the Scorpions too, but damn they are still touring because they decided to just keep going. They didn’t stop and then decide to reunite after a year or 2.

I love Guns N Roses and they have been on the Not in this Lifetime tour since 2016. We get it. Either make some new music or call it a day.

Slayer announced their farewell tour and played their final show in Los Angeles over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Something tells me they might be the only band to actually not tour again.

Tom Araya stated, “Thank you. Thank you very much. I want to thank you for sharing your time with us. Time is precious. So I thank you for sharing that time with us. Thank you. I’m gonna miss you guys. But the most important thing I want to thank you for being a part of my life. Thank you. Good night. You guys be safe.”

I definitely got into Slayer big time in my early twenties, and never looked back. A band that always stuck to their guns and every album sounded like fucking Slayer. I never had to think they were going to do something different. It was always fast, loud, and fucking Slayer. While Tom can think the fans for being there for them, I think a thank you is in order from us, the fans. Slayer was always unapologetic and put out great records and an awesome live show. Hard to even think the band made it 35 years. I was even lucky enough to meet the guys while Jeff was still in the band and it was a pleasure. The guys were cool in the brief moments I had to speak with them. SLAAAAAAYYYYYYYYEEEEEEERRRR!

After all of this little rant, my point is if you are done then just end it. Stop telling the fans this is it, and we spend our hard earned money and then a few years later you decide well I need to eat, or I want to cash in on the money grab. Fuck that and fuck you for doing it.

Be like Lemmy. Just keep going and touring and when you die is when you stop. That’s fucking Rock n Roll.
